Mission/Purpose

To protect and promote the health, the environment, and the well-being of Southern Nevada residents and visitors.

Services Provided to the Community

The health district offers services and provides regulatory supervision that impact the public every day.  It offers:  Family Planning, Teen Pregnancy Prevention, Immunizations, TB, HIV/STD Services, Maternal/Child Health, Nurse Family Partnership, Refugee Health, Epidemiology, Environmental Health, Health Cards, Vector Control, Community Health, Public Health Preparedness, Emergency Management Services, and State Public Health Lab.

Population Served

2.2 Million – All of Southern Nevada.

Length of Operation

SNHD has been part of the community since 1964.  The Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program began in October, 2010

Positive Outcome within the Agency

Since its inception, the Teen Pregnancy Prevention program has provided reproductive health education to over 3,000 youth through our evidence-based curricula, health fairs and partnerships with youth focused community based organizations.

Role in the DREAMR Project

The Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program is partnering with the DREAMR grant to provide evidence based curricula to foster care youth on HIV/STD prevention and Pregnancy Prevention.
